Body Image and Teens

This self-guided study was provided through my Master's Degree coursework for family life educators. It is not CF-specific but provides excellent information about body image issues in general and includes worksheets to help open up dialogue between parents and teens.

Body image is a big issue for most teens and it can be problematic for our teens with CF especially if they are small in stature or thin. Some kids, generally girls, with CF like being thin and may stop taking their enzymes properly as a way to "control" their weight. Watch for this, it's dangerous territory. Talk with your teen about body image and if you have any concerns, bring it up with your CF Team, too.
